Terms of Service for Association for AI in Legal (A4L) Online Member Services

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to the Association for AI in Legal (A4L) online member community. By accessing or using our website, mobile application, and member platform (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use our Services. Your continued use after any changes to these Terms means you accept the revised Terms.


2. Member Registration and Accounts

To access some features, you may need to register an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update it as needed. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Do not share, transfer, or create multiple accounts without our permission. Notify A4L immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Before using specific areas of the Services, you may be asked to accept additional special terms, for example by clicking an “I Accept,” “I Agree,” or similar button. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the special terms, the special terms will govern.


3. Intellectual Property and Content Rights

All content on the Services (including text, graphics, logos, images, and software) is the property of A4L and protected by law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.


Your Content

You are responsible for the content you post in the community and the app (such as messages, files, resources, and comments). We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or our policies. Your content may remain available in the community and the app even if you delete your account, if it violates our policies or has been shared by other users.

You retain ownership of your content. By posting it, you grant A4L a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and adapt it within the Services for community purposes.


4. User Conduct and Community Guidelines

When using the Services, you agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any unlawful activity or violate these Terms
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any part of the Services
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services
  • Collect or store personal data about others without consent
  • Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Post abusive, harassing, discriminatory, or offensive material
  • Share confidential or illegal information
  • Spam, advertise without authorization, or solicit others commercially
  • Create multiple accounts or disrupt the community

5. Privacy Policy

Your use of our Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at https://a4l.law/privacy. Please read it to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.


6. Third-Party Content and Links

The Services may include links to other sites or resources that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or security of any third-party sites.


7. Disclaimer of Warranties

We provide the Services for general informational purposes only. A4L makes no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Services or any content. Use the Services at your own risk.


8. Limitation of Liability

A4L is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages from your use of the Services. This includes errors in content or any loss or damage related to your use of content posted or shared on the Services.


9. Suspension, Termination, and Content Removal

A4L may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breaking these Terms or harming the community. We may also remove any content that violates the Terms or our policies. To challenge a moderation decision, contact info@a4l.law.


10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the date below. Your continued use of the Services means you accept any changes.


11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Oregon, United States, regardless of conflict of law rules.
